About the project:

The Healthy Families project was especially meaningful to me. Leslie, Sarah, and their team provide critical support to individuals and families in vulnerable situations, and they needed a website that made it easier for people to access help quickly and safely.

Their previous WordPress website had become difficult to manage, so one of the primary goals was to create a platform their team could confidently update and maintain on their own. Just as importantly, the new site needed to be accessible to visitors with varying disabilities and include thoughtful safety features that support the organization's mission.

Above all, the user experience needed to remove barriers and help people find assistance fast.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Partnered with the talented team at Relay to develop the site's messaging strategy and user experience

• Made specific recommendations and enhancements to improve ADA accessibility

• Created a streamlined navigation system that helps visitors quickly access crisis resources, facility information, and donation opportunities

• Developed a custom quick-exit feature designed to help protect visitor privacy

• Refined headlines and body copy to improve search engine visibility

• Selected stock photography to complement the organization's existing imagery

• Designed custom icons in collaboration with Relay's brand designer

• Made mobile refinements beyond Squarespace's built-in capabilities, ensuring visitors on smaller devices enjoy a clear, polished, and user-friendly experience

The result is a website that balances accessibility, safety, and ease of use while supporting the organization's important work in the community.
