My Livestream Flop & A Rant About Online Advice
Recently, my business buddy, Amber, and I experimented with a livestream app called Meerkat.
If you're on my email list (sign up here to be my penpal:) you might recall I invited you to it last week.
After our livestream session I felt the need to share my honest reaction to the experiment (the funny, the weird, the likes, and dislikes).
And theeeennnn... I kept the camera rolling as I ranted about using online advice as the Bible for your solo-business (one of the main reasons I wanted to do a livestream in the first place).
I have coached enough clients (and weathered plenty of my own mind storms) to see how damaging it can be to your morale, productivity, common sense, perspective, and confidence when you stockpile information.
I am so grateful people share what they do. I follow some wise cookies who I deeply admire and adore! Keep sharing!
But as consumers of information I believe we must be selective about what we decide to accept as absolute facts that will work for the realities of our lifestyles, businesses, and personalities.
Just because someone you admire is offering a perspective (that worked for them) doesn't mean it's the best thing for you. I know how easy it is to sometimes forget that and start measuring our knowledge, efforts, and successes by invisible yardsticks - that don't factor in our unique talents, experiences, strengths, and goals:)
Anyway, here you go! Enjoy:)
